VP JULDEH JALLOH:
THE QUIET FORCE BEHIND ECOWAS SUCCESS

By Ibrahim Alusine Kamara (Kamalo)
While President Julius Maada Bio received widespread recognition for Sierra Leone’s successful hosting of the 69th ECOWAS Authority of Heads of State and Government Summit, many observers believe Vice President Dr. Mohamed Juldeh Jalloh played a pivotal behind-the-scenes role in ensuring the historic event was executed successfully.
As Chairman of the National Organising Committee, Dr. Juldeh Jalloh spearheaded months of intensive preparations, coordinating the work of Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) responsible for security, transport, protocol, accommodation, health services, logistics and other critical aspects of the summit. His leadership ensured that all key institutions worked in close collaboration to deliver an event that met international standards.
In the weeks leading to the summit, the Vice President chaired strategic planning meetings, monitored progress across various sectors and personally inspected the Julius Maada Bio International Conference Centre and other summit facilities in Lungi to ensure every detail was in place before the arrival of regional leaders and international delegations.
Throughout the summit, Dr. Jalloh remained actively engaged, overseeing coordination among government agencies, welcoming visiting dignitaries and ensuring that logistics, protocol and security arrangements ran smoothly. The successful movement of delegates, efficient organisation of official programmes and seamless execution of the event reflected months of meticulous planning under his supervision.
The summit ended without any major logistical or security setbacks, earning Sierra Leone regional and international praise for its organisation, hospitality and professionalism. Many analysts have attributed that success not only to strong political leadership from President Bio but also to the Vice President’s effective coordination, quiet diplomacy and hands-on management throughout the planning and implementation process.
Following the successful conclusion of the summit, Dr. Juldeh Jalloh congratulated President Bio and all institutions involved, describing the event as a landmark achievement that had enhanced Sierra Leone’s international standing and demonstrated the country’s capacity to host high-profile regional engagements.
Although much of the spotlight naturally focused on President Bio as ECOWAS Chairman, many political observers believe the Vice President’s tireless efforts behind the scenes were instrumental to the summit’s success. His calm leadership, attention to detail and ability to coordinate multiple institutions have led many to describe him as the unsung hero behind one of Sierra Leone’s most successful international events in recent history.
