Professor Philip Kanu: A Victim of SLPP’s Bad Politics
Professor Philip Kanu is a Household Name in the Political and the Educational Landscape of Salone,since the 2018 Political Transition,where the Bio-Led SLPP Government took over the realm of Political Authority of this country( Salone).
Professor Philip Kanu,from the heart-beat of the APC,in the hinterlands of Makeni (Ropolon) was among the few Prominent Northerners who said ” I am going to support this man (Bio)”, a name that was like a Taboo in the Surroundings of Makeni,the home of the God-father of the APC (Ernest Bai Koroma).
Professor Philip Kanu made history,by taking the Name “Maada Bio” in his own village (Ropolon) and the surroundings of Makeni, during a time when APC and Ernest Bai Koroma have taken prominence in the North of Salone.
Many of those who Conspired to suspend Professor Philip Kanu, from his dedicated service,as the Transformer of MMTU,were no where to be seen near president Bio, during the 2018 Crucial Transition of Powers,yet this young man,was a victim of administrative Negligence at this same College (MMTU) during the time of the APC government, because he was not supporting the APC government,he decided to wait for President Bio,a name many hated at MMTU,by then.
The Minister of Higher Education and all those who maliciously Conspired to suspend Professor Philip Kanu,did so at their own personal interest and Vendetta,so as to reward his position to someone they have at hearts, Other than our able and dynamic Professor,who has demonstrated profound and quality leadership at the great Milton Margai Technical University.
I am not writing this article, because of personal relationship with Professor Philip Kanu,or because of Brown envelope, infact he didn’t support me when I Contested for the SUG Elections(2025),but with a Sound and Fear Judgement as a Spiritual- Man of God(Jesus Christ) and an Activist who had stood up for Justice of this country,since 2004,when I started as a Child-Right Activist with the Children’s Forum Network -CFN Tonkolili District Coordinator,2010 a Youth Activist with the African Youths Partnership Against Violence (AYPAV-S/L) and 2018 to date, as the President of the National Union of Civil-Society Organizations/ Activists, advocating for the Peace,Love and Justice of all Sierra Leoneans, without fear or favour.
This hatred and Malicious treatment against Professor Philip Kanu has sent a very strong message that,if you are not Related to President Bio, either through Regional or Tribal lines,then don’t bother waste your Time or energy to survive any suspension, from your position,as was also done to our Northern Brother Alpha Timbo,who was also Maliciously Removed from his Ministerial Position for a crime he didn’t commit alone.
I will conclude by saying that our dear friend, Brother and father of MMTU, Professor Philip Kanu, please take heart and find a way to leave this country,to find peace and Comfort, because you have been molested in front of your students, you cherished so much, your students you stood behind,to protect from those lecturers who came to the lecture Room to collect Money and Sex, instead of imparting Knowledge to their students.
This was why they Conspired against you, because you never wanted to work with most of them, because you didn’t trust or believe in them and one can only work with someone one believes or trusts, for fear of undermining one’s administration, which was no crime at all.
President Bio selected those he believed and trusted to work with,was it a crime?
Why should it be a Crime to Professor Philip Kanu?
