Some of us have lost our jobs, others cannot return home, and we feel abandoned. This support gives us hope that we are not forgotten.”_Mohamed Kamara, another immigrant, echoed the sentiment: “_The conflict has made life unbearable. We are grateful for Dr. Bangura’s assistance. It shows that someone cares about our struggles.”_In a statement accompanying the donation, Dr. Bangura offered words of consolation and a bold assurance: _“My heart goes out to every Sierra Leonean enduring hardship in Kuwait. You are not forgotten. This support is a small step to ease your suffering, but my commitment is far greater. I assure you that when I become President of Sierra Leone, no Sierra Leonean will ever feel the need to seek greener pastures abroad. Together, we will build a nation where opportunity, dignity, and prosperity are found at home.”_The gesture has been hailed as both compassionate and politically symbolic.
