STATE LAND HEIST
By Ibrahim Alusine Kamara (Kamalo)
Sierra Leone’s sovereignty is being auctioned off, piece by piece, in a scandal that reeks of betrayal, corruption, and mafia-style land grabs. From military barracks to community fields, the very assets that should serve the people are being sold under the table to foreign cartels and their local collaborators.
Military Betrayal at Goderich and Wellington
Fresh revelations confirm that prime military lands in Goderich and Wellington, once protected as strategic state assets, have been quietly sold to Shalimar – the notorious Lebanese business syndicate already accused of looting the nation’s economy. The betrayal cuts deep: military commanders, sworn to defend Sierra Leone’s territorial integrity, have instead conspired with foreign profiteers to sell off the very barracks meant to house our soldiers.
The question Sierra Leoneans must ask: if the guardians of our defense are auctioning off their own barracks, who exactly is protecting the state?
Police Barracks Field in Kissy – Sold to Indians
The rot doesn’t stop there. The Police Barracks Field in Kissy – a vital recreational and community space for thousands – has allegedly been handed over to some Indian speculators in another backroom deal. The police, whose duty is to protect the people, now stand accused of selling out their own backyard for personal enrichment. Communities who once relied on the field for sports, gatherings, and youth development are left stranded, betrayed, and voiceless.
Lifeline Field Grab – Social Welfare and Tumac Fingered
Equally scandalous is the reported grabbing of the Lifeline Field land, allegedly orchestrated by the Ministry of Social Welfare in collusion with businessman Tunde McCarthy (Tumac). Instead of protecting social assets, the very ministry mandated to defend the vulnerable is being accused of stealing from them. If proven true, this is not just corruption – it is moral bankruptcy of the highest order.
The Bigger Picture: Mafia State Capture
These are not isolated incidents. They are symptoms of a broader disease: the systematic capture of Sierra Leone’s strategic assets by foreign mafias – Lebanese cartels like Shalimar, Indian speculators, and their local puppets in government and business. State lands meant for defense, security, youth, and community are being parcelled out to the highest bidder.
A Nation for Sale
What message does this send to ordinary Sierra Leoneans? That their leaders are not guardians, but auctioneers. That barracks, police fields, and community lands are not sacred public trusts, but private loot to be sold to foreign mafias.
This is not governance. This is treason wrapped in corruption. Sierra Leone is being sold off under our noses, and unless the people rise to stop it, there will soon be nothing left to call our own.
