By: Nelson Adebayo Johnson
Leader of the DIB Movement and All People’s Congress (APC) presumptive flagbearer, Dr. Ibrahim Bangura, has declared that his movement is focused on shaping the future rather than fighting the past.
Dr. Bangura made the statement on Wednesday in Makeni during an engagement with APC district executives and party stakeholders in Bombali District, shortly after joining Muslims for Eid-ul-Adha prayers.
The meeting, held in the APC stronghold of Makeni, drew key district figures and party faithful who expressed confidence in Dr. Bangura’s leadership and growing national appeal.
Addressing supporters, Dr. Bangura thanked the people of Bombali for their unwavering love and loyalty to the APC, emphasizing that Bombali remains “the heart of the APC.” He stressed the urgent need to “restore Sierra Leone to sanity,” lamenting the country’s current socio-economic challenges while assuring supporters that his movement is focused on building ahead.
Dr. Bangura also called for unity within the party and condemned violence during internal party elections. He urged supporters and aspirants to conduct their campaigns with decency, discipline, and mutual respect, reminding them that “there is life after elections.”
He further emphasized the importance of creating opportunities for women and children to realize their full potential in a peaceful and united Sierra Leone.
Bombali District Chairman, Dr. Martin Bangura, described it as a proud moment to receive Dr. Bangura in Makeni, noting that his decision to pray with the people during Eid reflected humility, unity, and commitment to the grassroots.
Also speaking, Hon. Salieu Osman Turay, popularly known as SOS, praised the contributions of former APC leader Ernest Bai Koroma, while describing Dr. Bangura as “a brother and a younger version” of the former President and the party’s next flagbearer.
He further disclosed that at least five women’s groups in the district had openly declared support for Dr. Bangura’s leadership bid.
