SHALIMAR’S MAFIA EMPIRE
…How A Foreign Cartel Loots Sierra Leone and Enslaves Workers
By Ibrahim Alusine Kamara (Kamalo)
Sierra Leone is bleeding — and the blade is in the hands of Shalimar.
This so-called “foreign investor” has turned our country into its private cash machine, operating above the law while draining the lifeblood of our economy. Shalimar is not here to build. It is here to plunder, and our leaders have become accomplices in this organized looting.
A Nation Suffocated, a Mafia Enriched
Every day, petty traders are harassed for the smallest arrears, market women are dragged through shame for failing to pay dues, and bike riders are crushed under the weight of fines. Yet Shalimar — a foreign cartel masquerading as a legitimate business — owes billions in unpaid taxes and walks free.
Worse, Shalimar has deliberately evaded NASSIT contributions for over 100 foreign workers, stripping them of their most basic social security rights. This is not negligence; it is calculated exploitation, designed to maximize profit while workers remain disposable tools.
Billions Stolen, Dreams Destroyed
The billions looted by Shalimar should have been invested in schools, hospitals, roads, and jobs. Instead, they are smuggled into foreign bank accounts, feeding a mafia empire while Sierra Leoneans suffer hunger and hopelessness.
Every leone stolen is a classroom unbuilt.
Every tax dodged is a hospital without medicine.
Every NASSIT payment evaded is a worker condemned to insecurity in sickness, injury, or old age.
Silence at the Top — Betrayal of the People
Where are our leaders? Their silence is louder than the cries of the poor. Their silence is not ignorance; it is complicity. When those in power shield a cartel that robs the nation blind, it ceases to be government — it becomes state capture.
This silence is betrayal. Betrayal of the trader sweating in the sun. Betrayal of the farmer who cannot afford fertilizer. Betrayal of the worker robbed of pension rights. Betrayal of every Sierra Leonean who dares to hope for a better life.
Not Investment — Economic Slavery
Let us be clear: Shalimar is not an investor. It is a predator. It offers no future, only chains. What we face is not foreign investment — it is economic slavery, dressed up as development.
When a cartel can bleed a country dry without consequence, that country is no longer sovereign. It is a playground for criminals in suits.
The Call to Action
Sierra Leone must rise. If Shalimar is not stopped, the looting will continue until there is nothing left to steal — no land, no jobs, no hope. This mafia empire must be confronted, exposed, and dismantled.
For if we cannot stand up to Shalimar, then we are not a nation — we are a colony run by gangsters in pinstripes.
The time to act is now.
