Orange Sierra Leone has signed a landmark sponsorship agreement worth more than NLe 2.8 million with the Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) to support the 2026 FA Cup competition, which will now be known as the Orange FA Cup 2026.The agreement was signed on Wednesday, March 4, 2026, at the Orange Digital Centre in Hill Station, Freetown. The partnership marks the first time a major corporate entity has secured title sponsorship for Sierra Leone’s premier knockout football competition, reflecting the growing private sector investment in the country’s football industry.Under the agreement, Orange Sierra Leone will serve as the exclusive title sponsor of the FA Cup and will receive full branding rights across the competition, including sponsorship of the Man of the Match award. The company will also provide Closed User Group mobile packages for SLFA staff to improve internal communication within the association. As part of the partnership, Orange will install 60 Mbps high-speed fibre internet at the SLFA headquarters in Kingtom to enhance the association’s operational and digital capacity. The collaboration will also introduce football-focused digital services and fan engagement initiatives.A key feature of the partnership is the integration of Orange Money for ticket sales, player bonuses, and other tournament transactions, promoting secure and efficient cashless payments.Speaking at the signing ceremony, Orange Sierra Leone Chief Executive Officer Aicha Touré described the agreement as a major milestone that strengthens the company’s commitment to supporting football development in the country.She said football remains a powerful platform that unites communities and inspires young people, noting that the partnership goes beyond sponsorship to include support for talent development, grassroots football, and nationwide promotion of the FA Cup.SLFA President Babadi Kamara described the agreement as the beginning of a long-term partnership aimed at strengthening football development in Sierra Leone. He noted that the FA Cup remains the country’s most inclusive competition, bringing together clubs from chiefdom, district, regional, and national levels.He added that increased corporate support demonstrates growing confidence in the administration of football and will help expand opportunities for clubs and young players across the country.Deputy Executive Director of the National Sports Authority, Dr. Abdul Rahman Swaray, welcomed the partnership, describing it as a significant boost for sports development.Minister of Sports Augusta James Teima also commended Orange Sierra Leone, noting that corporate investment is critical to advancing sports development, youth empowerment, and national unity.The Orange FA Cup 2026 is expected to bring together clubs from across Sierra Leone in a nationwide competition designed to strengthen grassroots football and provide a platform for emerging talent.The sponsorship represents a major boost for the sport and highlights the growing role of corporate partnerships in supporting football development and national progress.
