In a bid to enhancing operational efficiency and effectiveness, the Director General of the National Social Security and Insurance Trust, on Tuesday 24th February 2026, commissioned eleven operational vehicles and nine motorbikes at the NASSIT Headquarters in Freetown. In his statement, the Director General said that the vehicles and motorbikers were not just about the addition of more assets to the Trust’s inventory, they were a significant leap in his Management’s unwavering commitment to enhancing service efficiency and responsiveness to members and pensioners across the country. According to the Director General , the operational environment and national reach of the Scheme required speed and stability, adding that the new fleet represented Management’s strategic investment in equipping staff with the best possible tools to meet the demands of their crucial work and targets. The Scheme’s Vision Carrier emphasized that the vehicles and motor bikes would undoubtedly bolster NASSIT’s reach, reduce response times, and allow staff to effectively work in remote communities. He called on them to make the best use of the facility with utmost care.He concluded on a note of appeal to the general public to join in the monitoring of the vehicles and motor bikes against misuse.“All our vehicles are branded with NASSIT logo and they are your money. It behooves on all of us to ensure that they are used for the right purpose. Don’t hesitate to report any misuse. You’re assured of appropriate action,” he emphasised.Earlier, handing over the vehicles and motorbikes to the Director General, the Deputy Director General in charge of Administration, Mohammed Gondoe, reminded staff that, NASSIT as the sole provider of state pension, “has a strategic directive in its Strategic plan out of which the annual institutional targets are developed”.According to Mr Gondoe, the provision of operational tools was critical to the achievement of those targets, adding that the event was not just the handing over of keys, rather, it represented a substantial investment in capacity, efficiency and commitment to serving the NASSIT mission with excellence.“The vehicles”, according to Mohammed Gondoe, “are not merely tools; rather, they are vital assets that will empower staff, enhance their reach, and ensure that operations are executed with greater speed, safety, and reliability”.He called on staff to embrace the new assets responsibly and utilize them to their fullest potential.Receiving the vehicles and motorbikes, the Deputy Director General for Operations, Edwin Mohamed Kamara, expressed his immense gratitude to the Director General for his leadership and vision.He reiterated that the acquisition was a significant boost to the capability of staff, as it would directly enhance efficiency and productivity. He assured Management that the vehicles would be deployed strategically and maintained with utmost care, as they would serve the operational needs effectively and efficiently.
