Information Minister, US Embassy Discuss Joint Messaging on Visa Compliance and Partnerships

Minister of Information and Civic Education, Chernor Bah, has met with Jacqueline Moore, Director of Public Affairs at the United States Embassy, and her team to advance joint messaging on visa compliance and explore broader areas of cooperation.
The meeting addressed the civic responsibility of adhering to visa terms, with both sides agreeing to launch a public a wareness campaign highlighting the personal and national consequences of overstaying. Minister Bah emphasized that respecting immigration laws is not only a legal duty but also a matter of national pride and collective responsibility.
Discussions also covered other avenues of partnership, including the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) program, cultural exchanges, and strengthening people-to-people ties. Ms. Moore reaffirmed the US commitment to working with Sierra Leone, commending the government’s constructive role in the repatriation of nationals and expressing optimism about resolving the temporary visa restrictions.
Minister Bah noted that his ministry will leverage its platforms to spread the message nationwide and will also raise the issue during planned town hall engagements with Sierra Leoneans in the US during the UN General Assembly in September.
Both sides expressed confidence that sustained cooperation and public engagement will help safeguard opportunities for Sierra Leoneans and deepen the longstanding relationship between the two nations.
