FOCUS 1,000 has handed over a fully equipped vaccination station to the District Health Management Team (DHMT) in Cline Town, as part of efforts to strengthen Sierra Leone’s public health system and achieve universal vaccine coverage.
The facility, delivered under Phase 2 of the Saving Lives and Livelihoods Project, is supported by the Mastercard Foundation, Africa CDC, and AMREF Health Africa. The initiative aims to bring vaccines closer to communities, increase accessibility, and enhance nationwide immunization rates against preventable diseases.
At the handover ceremony, District Medical Officer Dr. Sylvia Yombe Fasuluku welcomed the donation, noting its importance in reducing preventable deaths, particularly among women and children. She reaffirmed the Ministry of Health’s commitment to partnering with stakeholders to meet national health targets.
FOCUS 1,000 Program Manager Dr. Mohamed Foh acknowledged Sierra Leone’s current 90% vaccination coverage but called for continued efforts to reach full coverage. Medlie Savage, Chief of Resource Mobilization and Communications at FOCUS 1,000, described the station as a symbol of collective action and resilience, pledging continued support for equitable vaccine distribution across the country.
