At the National Spelling Bee Competition Orientation held on 4th April 2026, the atmosphere was filled with excitement as pupils, educators, and stakeholders gathered in anticipation of a journey rooted in learning and discovery.Representing United Bank for Africa (UBA) Sierra Leone was Augustine Martin, the bank’s External and Media Relations Officer, whose presence underscored the institution’s strong partnership with the initiative. Taking the podium, Augustine delivered a brief but compelling statement that resonated with both young participants and dignitaries alike.In his address, he emphasized that UBA Sierra Leone remains deeply committed to supporting educational initiatives that nurture literacy, critical thinking, and confidence among young people. He reaffirmed that through the UBA Foundation, the bank continues to champion programs that empower students to discover and develop their talents.He further highlighted the ongoing UBA Foundation 5th National Essay Competition, encouraging pupils to take advantage of platforms that sharpen their creativity and critical thinking. Importantly, Augustine conveyed the strong support and vision of the Managing Director/CEO, Mohamed Alhajie Samoura, noting that the MD remains deeply passionate about youth development and educational advancement in Sierra Leone. He stressed that under the MD’s leadership, UBA continues to prioritize investments in initiatives that nurture confident, articulate, and future-ready young leaders.As he concluded, Augustine left the pupils with a powerful reminder: to embrace the challenge ahead with curiosity, determination, and enthusiasm. His participation not only reaffirmed UBA Sierra Leone’s commitment to the partnership but also echoed a broader vision driven by its leadership one where education serves as a catalyst for empowerment and national development.
