Feed Salone Gets Major Boost
Sierra Leone’s Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, Hon. Dr. Henry Musa Kpaka, has joined fellow agriculture ministers in signing the Green Jobs for Youth in Resilient Agrifood Systems Project (GCP/SFW/013/ROK), backed by a US$5.8 million grant from the Government of the Republic of Korea, to expand employment opportunities for young people in agriculture on Thursday, 15 October 2026, in Rome, Italy.
The project will be implemented in Bo, Bombali, Kambia and Kono districts, with the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) serving as the technical partner.
The initiative will equip young women and men with modern agrifood skills, expand green and digital employment opportunities, and support youth-led cooperatives and micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs).
The project aligns with the Government of Sierra Leone’s Feed Salone transformation agenda, which seeks to boost agricultural productivity, strengthen food security, promote private-sector investment and create sustainable economic opportunities for young people.
Through this initiative, Sierra Leone aims to strengthen youth participation in resilient agrifood systems while promoting innovation, entrepreneurship and sustainable livelihoods across the agricultural value chain.
