Pastor Mambu Launches Great Redemption Crusade

By: Gibrilla Kamara
A major spiritual revival is underway in Sierra Leone as Pastor Francis A. M. Mambu officially launched the Great Redemption Crusade (GRC) on Wednesday, October 8, 2025, at the Methodist Church Women’s Hall on King Harman Road, Brookfields, Freetown.
The launch, which drew religious leaders, church representatives, and community members from across the capital, marked a defining moment for the country’s Christian community.
Declaring the purpose of the movement, Apostle George Bruni described the GRC as “a nationwide spiritual awakening aimed at winning souls for Christ and ushering in a new era of holiness, purity, and national restoration.”
Representing Pastor Mambu, Pastor Josephus D. Paris recounted the background of the crusade, which began in 2006 after Sierra Leone’s disarmament program. The movement gained national attention in 2015 when Pastor Mambu received divine instruction to expand its reach. Since then, the GRC has hosted mass crusades in the National Stadium and provincial towns, drawing thousands to testimonies of salvation, miraculous healings, and renewed faith.
Although activities were briefly interrupted in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the movement sustained its momentum through the Redeemer Media Network, God’s Agents of Transformation Discipleship and Leadership Training School, and the Revival Labour Prayer Group, which continues to host all-night prayer sessions via the Redeemer Radio Network.
Pastor Paris outlined the key objectives of the Great Redemption Crusade:
To win souls for Christ in every community;
To strengthen and encourage local pastors through leadership conferences;
To build a national prayer platform for the restoration of Sierra Leone’s land and economy; and
To intercede for families, youths, professionals, and the sick in need of healing and salvation.
He further highlighted the core components of the campaign, including:
Evening crusades;
Pastors’ conferences;
Power conferences for new converts; and
Medical outreach and clinics.
Delivering Pastor Mambu’s message, Paris emphasized the urgency of national revival:
“This is the time for spiritual awakening. God is calling His people back to holiness, righteousness, and service. Through this crusade, we believe Sierra Leone will experience a mighty move of God,” declared Pastor Francis A. M. Mambu.
In expressions of solidarity, Rev. Henry Abioseh Samuel, representing the Council of Churches in Sierra Leone (CCSL), affirmed their support for the movement. The Secretary of the Inter-Religious Council also lauded Pastor Mambu’s consistency in promoting peace and transformation through faith, while a representative from the Evangelical Fellowship of Sierra Leone (EFSL) pledged continued prayers and logistical backing.
The ceremony climaxed with Bishop Benjamin Bangura officially declaring the Great Redemption Crusade launched, signifying a renewed call for unity, revival, and divine restoration across the nation.
